Summer: Seasonal Vegetables

When you shop in a supermarket (like most of the country), you technically have access to vegetables and fruits that aren’t actually in season in your region. 

In areas like NY, Summer is a time for lots of bright, sweet and watery vegetables. If you think about it, nature is quite smart because these are the things that will keep our bodies energized in the heat of the Summer. 

Here is a little guide to shopping seasonally and making sure the items you choose have the smallest footprint and social and environmental impact.

Seasonal Vegetables for the NY area

Arugula

Unlike Winter vegetables, the majority of these vegetables above are amazing raw. Which is great, because who wants to put on your oven in July. Not me!!
